Low power/low latency

Optimize for performance or power consumption? Wirepas gives the developer the choice. A Wirepas mesh network supports two modes of operation – and in fact both can be deployed in the same network:

Low-energy for battery-operated mesh networks – a router will consume as little as 40µA in a 2.4 GHz network. In this mode, throughput is lower and latency is higher.

High-performance – in this mode, the network reduces latency to the minimum and maximises throughput, at the cost of higher power consumption.

So an emergency lighting manufacturer can adjust network operation to meet the system’s needs – for instance, operating in high-performance mode normally when operating on mains power, and switching to low-energy mode in an emergency, when the luminaire is battery-powered.
